Crime is rampant in New York City. Every day, there is breaking news covering incidents of New Yorkers, young and old, being murdered or assaulted in the streets.

The city is under siege. Children are dying. It’s time to put the interests of children, families, and New Yorkers first. It’s time to fix the criminal justice reform laws that are no longer serving us. We must improve the system. We have 2 years of data showing the increase in crime due to these laws. Our communities should no longer have to suffer under rampant gun violence. We need laws that are going to protect US, not the criminals.

Our children need to be safe in our communities and in school. What happens in our communities spills over into our schools. Children are being shot in drive-by shootings outside of schools and wild-wild-west shootouts are happening at dismissal.

The criminal justice reforms, commonly known as bail reform laws, enacted in 2020 must be changed. No law is perfect. Our state legislators must act to fix these laws and protect New Yorkers.

LittleAfrica News is here to deliver hard-hitting news and cover stories relevant to our communities. We cover local, national, and international news. Our newspaper is available in over 300 locations in New York City.
