She made national headlines during the 2019 impeachment hearings for her aggressive defense of Trump and has remained a prominent figure in the GOP since. Additionally, she has been an influential fundraiser for the party.
The selection of Congresswoman Stefanik for this key diplomatic role signals a shift in the United States stance toward the United Nations, with the congresswoman known for her criticism of the international body, particularly over its treatment of Israel. Stefanik has argued for a reassessment of U.S. funding to the UN, especially if the Palestinian Authority continues its push to expel Israel from the organization.
