A broad coalition of elected officials from across the Bronx announced their endorsement Monday of Congressman Ritchie Torres for re-election to Congress, signaling unified support from city, state and federal leaders within the borough.

In a joint show of backing, officials representing neighborhoods throughout the Bronx cited Torres’ legislative record and advocacy on housing, economic opportunity and public safety. Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie described Torres as “a highly effective member of New York’s congressional delegation,” adding that “he delivers for his district, advocating tirelessly for housing and economic opportunities.” Heastie emphasized that the Bronx benefits from having “a fighter like him in Washington.”

Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson pointed to their past collaboration in the City Council, calling Torres’ commitment to the borough “consistent, effective and unparalleled.” She stated that he recognizes a responsibility to “give back, invest, engage and empower our residents and deliver real results.”

State Senator Jamaal Bailey remarked that Torres “leads with urgency and authenticity” and brings personal experience to national policy debates. Congressman Adriano Espaillat noted that Torres is “deeply engaged on policy and relentless in advocating for the Bronx.”

Support also came from members of the State Assembly, including George Alvarez, who stated that Torres “delivers real results for working families,” and Landon Dais, who observed that he “is not afraid to tackle tough issues.” Jeffrey Dinowitz described him as “one of the most respected and impactful members of Congress,” while Chantel Jackson emphasized his focus on “housing stability, mental health, and economic opportunity.” John Zaccaro commented that Torres “relentlessly champions” the needs of Bronx residents.

City Council members also voiced their support for Torres. Eric Dinowitz noted that he “shows up, speaks up, and delivers,” while Oswald Feliz highlighted his attention to public safety and quality-of-life concerns. Kevin Riley observed that Torres consistently pushes for solutions that make “a real difference on the ground.” Pierina Sanchez emphasized his work on housing and economic justice issues. Justin Sanchez remarked that the Bronx needs leaders “who are willing to fight and who know how to deliver.” Althea Stevens added that “Ritchie’s story is the Bronx’s story,” noting that his lived experience informs his work and inspires confidence in his leadership.

Torres represents New York’s 15th Congressional District, which covers much of the Bronx. The coordinated endorsements reflect broad institutional support within the borough as he seeks another term in Congress.
