On Thursday, November 14th, Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani announced that his mayoral campaign raised over $250,000 in just three weeks, marking the fastest campaign to reach this milestone in 2024.

The campaign, which launched last month, gained momentum with contributions from 2,465 donors (73%), including 1,805 New Yorkers who collectively gave $180,702. Support came from all five boroughs, reflecting strong community backing. Mamdani’s team is on track to qualify for public matching funds by the January filing deadline.

“When I announced this campaign last month, we set an ambitious Day One fundraising goal of $50,000. We nearly tripled that in the first 24 hours and now have raised a quarter million dollars in three weeks — by far the fastest mayoral campaign to reach that milestone this year,” Mamdani said in an exclusive statement to New York Voice. “New Yorkers are hungry for change and want a city government that is relentlessly focused on bringing down the cost of living. I am excited to bring this vision to every neighborhood in New York City.”

Mamdani, who represents Queens in the state Assembly, has built a reputation for advocating affordable housing, transit justice, and equity for working-class communities. His campaign’s early success reflects considerable support for his platform, particularly among New Yorkers seeking leadership focused on addressing key urban issues.

The campaign’s rapid fundraising pace demonstrates its reliance on community-driven support, with small-dollar donations accounting for a significant portion of the total raised. Mamdani’s ability to rally varied followers in such a short period of time demonstrates his appeal to a wide range of populations.

As the race continues, Mamdani’s focus on addressing the city’s rising cost of living appears to resonate with voters. With $250,000 raised and public matching funds within reach, his campaign is positioned to expand its outreach across the city.
