As the country eagerly anticipates the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on January 20, 2025, here’s what you need to know about the day and the events leading up to it.

Planning and Coordination
The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) is responsible for organizing the official events surrounding the inauguration. This committee ensures a smooth transition of power and the successful execution of the day’s activities, including the swearing-in ceremony, inaugural address, and other traditions. The JCCIC works closely with Congress and federal agencies for logistics, security, and scheduling.

Inauguration Day Details
The formal ceremony will take place on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., beginning around noon ET. The Vice President-elect will take the oath of office first, followed by President-elect Trump. Afterward, Trump will deliver his inaugural address outlining his goals for the term.

How to Get Tickets
Tickets will be available through members of Congress. They are free but highly in-demand, so it’s best to request them in advance. Contact your local Congressional representative for details on how to apply. If you’re unable to get a ticket, large video screens will be set up on the National Mall for public viewing.

The Parade and Other Celebrations
After the ceremony, the inaugural parade will proceed along Pennsylvania Avenue from the U.S. Capitol to the White House. Spectators can watch from the free, unreserved sidewalk spaces, though bleacher seats are available through the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Additionally, numerous official and unofficial inaugural balls will take place across the city, offering celebratory opportunities for high-profile political and entertainment figures.

Security
Inauguration Day will have extensive security measures, including road closures around the Capitol and National Mall. Security screenings will be in place for ticket holders, and make sure to bring photo ID and check prohibited items. Instead of driving, it’s advisable to walk, use Capital Bikeshare, or take the Metro to navigate D.C. on Inauguration Day. Due to a security perimeter around the event, ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft will operate only outside of this restricted area. If you’re using these services, you’ll need to travel outside the designated security perimeter to be picked up, as access within the area will be limited.

A Historic Day for the Nation
As Inauguration Day approaches, all eyes will be on Washington, D.C., as President-elect Trump begins his second term. Whether you’re attending in person or watching from afar, the day will mark a historic transition, setting the tone for a new chapter in United States history.

Stay updated through the JCCIC and official channels for more details as the event draws closer.
