A 29-year-old man was indicted on charges of attempted murder on Thursday, January 2nd, after slashing his ex-girlfriend with a razor blade and shoving her onto subway tracks in front of her teenage daughters in Harlem last November.

Michael Blount was charged in connection with the November 5th, 2024, attack, which Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. described as brutal and terrifying. According to court documents, Blount approached his ex-girlfriend and her daughters at a Harlem deli around 11 p.m. after repeatedly trying to contact her. When the victim ignored his attempts to engage, Blount followed the family to a nearby subway station. After briefly returning to the deli to purchase a razor blade, he confronted the victim on the southbound platform of the A-train station.

Blount grabbed the victim by her hair from behind and attempted to slash her neck. During the struggle, the victim was cut multiple times in the face as she fought back. In a violent escalation, Blount pushed her onto the subway tracks before fleeing the scene.

One of the victim’s daughters managed to pull her mother from the tracks just minutes before a train arrived. A bystander helped transport the victim to the hospital, where she underwent plastic surgery for her injuries.

Blount evaded arrest for several weeks while continuing to harass the victim and her daughters through phone calls and messages. Authorities arrested him on December 28, 2024.

“Intimate partner violence remains a top priority for my office,” District Attorney Bragg stated. “We have the resources and specially trained staff to assist survivors and their families. Please call us at 212-335-4308.”

Blount faces multiple charges, including attempted murder in the second degree. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant D.A. Charlotte Armour of the Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau, alongside senior officials from the Special Victims Division.
