A 17-year-old student from Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn was the victim of a shooting incident on Friday, September 9th.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Neptune Avenue and Ocean Parkway, a short distance from the school.

After the incident, the school went into a temporary lockdown.

The teenager sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was swiftly transported to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn.

Officials reported that he was in stable condition following the incident.

According to law enforcement, the shooting took place around 1 p.m., but the reasons behind the attack remained unclear.

Authorities have stated that the victim has no known criminal background. The assailant, described as a male wearing a gray hoodie, black pants, and a black backpack, fled the scene following the shooting.

The New York City Department of Education spokesperson Jenna Lyle remarked, “The safety of our students is our absolute top priority.”

She stated that the shooting incident was unrelated to the school.

Lyle also mentioned that the school implemented a temporary shelter-in policy, which was later lifted. Lyle assured that the Department would cooperate fully with the NYPD’s ongoing investigation and provide necessary support to the school community.

This shooting incident occurred just days after another tragedy in Brooklyn, where Unique Smith, a 15-year-old student at Brooklyn Laboratory Charter Schools, was fatally shot at McLaughlin Park.

Law enforcement sources revealed that Smith was approached by two masked individuals who questioned his gang affiliations.

Following an altercation, Smith was shot with a 9mm handgun and later succumbed to his injuries at New York/Presbyterian Methodist Hospital.

The investigation into both incidents is ongoing as the police search for the perpetrators.
