77th UN General Assembly Convenes September 13

In a few weeks, the United Nations will convene for the 77th session of the General Assembly.  New York City residents, as well as the UN diplomatic community, are preparing for the annual arrival of heads of state and government from around the world. The UNGA77 will take place from September 13th through the 27th.

Hungarian diplomat Csaba Kőrösi of Hungary, who was elected to be president of the General Assembly, will take over from Abdulla Shahid of the Maldives after Shahid closes out the 76th assembly. Kőrösi will lead the assembly for the oncoming year.

While details of discussions scheduled for the government officials have not been released, it is noted that the first day of the “high-level” debate week will take place Tuesday, September 20th.
