President-elect Donald Trump is preparing for a major “Victory Rally” in Washington, D.C., on the eve of his inauguration. Scheduled for January 19th at the Capital One Arena, the event will bring together thousands of supporters as Trump readies himself for his swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20th.

The rally, set to begin at 3 p.m. ET, is expected to be high-energy, with organizers promising a “victory rally you’ll never forget!” Capital One Arena, home to the NBA’s Washington Wizards and the NHL’s Washington Capitals, has a capacity of 20,000.

This marks Trump’s first public appearance since his November victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. Known for his rally-style events, Trump often engages directly with his supporters in an informal, interactive setting. As he prepares for his formal inauguration, Trump continues to energize his base in the lead-up to the event.

The rally’s timing is especially notable, coming just days after the January 6th session of Congress, where electoral votes will officially certify Trump’s victory. This moment is charged with historical significance, given the lasting memory of the violent Capitol attack in 2021. Trump declined to attend President Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2021, but Biden has confirmed he will be present for Trump’s swearing-in ceremony.

Security for the event will be heightened, with Washington, D.C., on high alert as the inauguration is classified as a national special security event. Federal funds will be allocated, and local law enforcement will work together to ensure safety at the rally and inauguration.

The rally is expected to attract significant attention as Trump’s policy plans dominate headlines. Among his key proposals are mass deportations, a crackdown on illegal immigration, and tariffs on China, Canada, and Mexico.

The rally at Capital One Arena is set to be a pivotal moment, drawing attention to Trump’s leadership as he prepares for his inauguration.
