The MTA has announced eight webinars in December to educate the public on the Congestion Relief Zone tolling program, which will take effect on January 5, 2025. These 60-minute sessions will provide details about the tolling system, its regional benefits, discounts, exemptions, and other key aspects. The webinars will also include a Q&A segment and cover specific topics like the Individual Disability Exemption Plan (IDEP) and the Low-Income Discount Plan (LIDP).

The webinars are scheduled for multiple dates and times to accommodate New Yorkers. Interested participants must register online for their chosen session and can submit questions beforehand.

The schedule for the webinars are:

  • Individual Disability Exemption Plan webinar: Wednesday, December 4, 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • General webinar: Wednesday, December 4, 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Low-Income Discount Plan webinar: Thursday, December 5, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.
  • General webinar: Friday, December 6, 12:30 p.m – 1:30 p.m.
  • General webinar: Tuesday, December 10, 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • General webinar: Thursday, December 12, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • General webinar: Monday, December 16, 6 p.m.-7 p.m.
  • General webinar: Thursday, December 19, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 a.m.

The tolling program aims to reduce traffic congestion in Manhattan’s core, covering streets below 60th Street, excluding the FDR Drive, West Side Highway/Route 9A, and Hugh L. Carey Tunnel connections. Toll rates will vary based on factors like vehicle type, time of day, and payment method. The program also includes discounts and exemptions for eligible individuals and groups.

To benefit from reduced tolls and crossing credits, motorists are advised to link their current license plates to their E-ZPass accounts. The MTA has also created a comprehensive FAQ section and additional resources to address common questions and concerns about the Congestion Relief Zone tolling.

The initiative underscores the MTA’s commitment to alleviating traffic congestion while enhancing air quality and urban mobility. The webinars serve as an essential tool for informing New Yorkers about the program’s mechanics and benefits. Feedback and questions submitted during these sessions will be instrumental in refining the implementation process.

For further details and to register, residents can visit the MTA’s official website dedicated to the Congestion Relief Zone tolling. With these efforts, the MTA aims to ensure a smoother transition to this transformative policy.
