Two high school students were stabbed inside Martin Van Buren High School in Queens around 1:00 pm today.  One student was stabbed in the abdomen and the other student was stabbed in the shoulder.  Both students are in stable condition.

The assailant student tried to flee the school but was arrested by the School Safety Agents.

A gun was also found on one of the stabbing victims.

Schools Chancellor David Banks, while testifying at an Education Committee hearing in Albany, was asked about the stabbing incident that happened over an hour ago at Martin Van Buren High School by Assemblyman Sam Pirozzolo.

Banks’ answer to Pirozzolo was, “While we’re here.”  Mark Rampersant, the DOE School Safety Director, failed to inform Banks of the stabbing and gun found at Martin Van Buren High School.

When asked by Pirozzolo about the delay in hiring the new Assistant School Safety Agents and launching the SaferWatch app, Banks had no answers.

This is a developing story.
