The New York City Campaign Finance Board on Thursday once again denied Mayor Eric Adams public matching funds, the eleventh rejection of his reelection bid.

The board cited unresolved compliance issues and an ongoing investigation into Adams’ campaign finances.

Board Chair Frederick Schaffer issued the following statement: “Regarding Mayor Adams, the Board determined Mayor Adams’ campaign has failed to demonstrate eligibility for public funds payment at this time on two grounds: one, failure to provide requested information, and two, reason to believe the campaign violated the law—the same two grounds that were the bases for the finding of ineligibility on August 6th, the Board’s last payment date. The Board’s investigation of the Adams campaign is ongoing.”

Adams filed a second lawsuit a week ago against the board alleging it “has shown a deplorable and anti-democratic bias against the Adams campaign”.

The board awarded matching funds to the other mayoral candidates. Zohran Mamdani received $1.9 million, Curtis Sliwa got $1.4 million, and Andrew Cuomo unlocked $482,000.

With Election Day fast approaching, the denials leave Adams at a sharp financial disadvantage.
