Mayor Eric Adams is set to receive endorsements from a coalition of law enforcement unions this week, marking a significant development in his independent campaign for re-election. The endorsements are expected to be formally announced Thursday, July 17th, during a news conference at City Hall, according to his campaign.

The coalition, known as the NYC Uniformed Forces Coalition 2025, comprises nearly all of the city’s police, corrections, and sanitation unions. Among them are the Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association, the Detectives’ Endowment Association, the Sergeants Benevolent Association, the Lieutenants Benevolent Association, and the Captains Endowment Association.

Adams’ campaign spokesperson Todd Shapiro described the planned endorsements as a show of strong support for the mayor’s leadership, noting they reflect “real confidence in his record and a shared belief that public safety is non-negotiable.” He added that Adams has consistently maintained, “we don’t have to choose between safety and justice — we can have both.”

This is Adams’ first major slate of endorsements in the current election cycle.
