The United States Department of Education has launched a website for reporting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs in public schools and universities. EndDEI.Ed.Gov portal went live on Thursday, February 27th, allowing students, parents, and educators to submit complaints about what the department calls illegal DEI-related policies.
Schools that fail to remove DEI programs risk losing federal funding. The Education Department says the portal will help identify race- or sex-based discrimination for potential investigations. Users must provide details about the alleged policy and the school’s location.
Supporters say the move is necessary. Co-founder of Moms for Liberty, Tiffany Justice, argues that DEI policies have created division. “DEI has re-segregated our schools in many ways, and our children are forced to see race in ways that they never did,” she told ABC News.
The portal follows President Donald Trump’s executive order to eliminate DEI in federal hiring, contracting, and education funding. It also aligns with the Supreme Court’s ruling in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, which ended affirmative action in college admissions.
Opponents argue the crackdown will harm marginalized students. The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) has sued the Education Department, calling the policy unconstitutional and violating free speech.
Despite the lawsuit, the administration says it will move forward with enforcement. The department has not specified when investigations will begin.
