New York City police seized approximately $10 million worth of drugs, including narcotics such as cannabis and psychedelic mushrooms in a drug enforcement operation in the Bronx on Saturday, July 20th.

The seizure, occurring on Timpson Place in the Mott Haven neighborhood, is reported as the largest involving unregulated cannabis products in the city’s history.

The raid kicked off following neighborhood reports of unauthorized marijuana sales.

Law enforcement officials discovered a large-scale drug operation that included various products, some deceptively packaged as candies and chocolates.

New York City Sheriff Anthony Miranda highlighted the extent of the operation, saying, “This location takes almost more than a half a block in terms of the volume and space that it has back there. It has a social club, it has a usage place, packaging, distribution, everything is coming out of just one location.”

The seized items included cannabis flowers, pre-rolls, hallucinogenic mushrooms, and THC-infused edibles.

The operation resulted in four arrests, according to city officials.

Fabien Levy, deputy mayor for communications, in a post on X, stated, “These illegal shops pray on our youngest & undermine the legal cannabis industry.”

This raid is part of a broader citywide initiative, Operation Padlock to Protect, targeting illegal drug activities across neighborhoods.

Just last week, another operation in the Bronx led to the seizure of cannabis products valued at an estimated $1 million and related paraphernalia from a warehouse near East Tremont Avenue.

City authorities have encouraged New Yorkers to report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in addressing illegal drug distribution.
