Former NY Governor Pataki Blasts Biden Over New York City Migrant Crisis

New York City is witnessing another surge of migrants, with more than 7,000 new arrivals in the last two weeks.

Fabien Levy, Deputy Mayor of Communications, stated that the city expects more migrant arrivals due to a record number of border crossings.

On Tuesday, December 26th, four buses packed with migrants arrived at New York City’s Port Authority.

The migrants were taken to the Roosevelt Hotel. Even though the city has announced that it is running out of room, more buses continue to arrive.

These buses, sent by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, arrived from Texas.

Since April 2022, Texas has bused over 80,000 people from border cities to six destinations, including Washington, D.C., New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver, and Los Angeles.

Levy criticized Abbott’s decision to send unannounced and uncoordinated migrants to New York City, accusing him of treating human beings as “political pawns.”

He revealed on X, “Last week, 14 rogue buses from Texas arrived in one night, the highest number recorded by the Arrival Center.”

The Deputy Mayor emphasized that the city has assisted over 160,000 migrants during this humanitarian crisis but now requires federal assistance to manage the situation, including additional financial support and a national resettlement strategy.

He stated, “Cities cannot continue to shoulder this responsibility without deeper partnership with the federal government—we need help to resettle and support the remaining 68,000 migrants currently in NYC’s care.”

Republican politicians have been urging the Biden administration to close or better control the borders to curb the flow of migrants.

Former New York Republican Governor George Pataki described the surge in migrants currently impacting New York City as “an absolute mess.”

On Tuesday, during an interview with John Catsimatidis on the “Cats & Cosby” show, Pataki criticized President Joe Biden for the current migrant situation in the city.

Pataki expressed his intention to sue President Biden, accusing him of “allowing an open border.”

The former governor said, “I would put [the migrants] on buses and…send them to Kamala Harris’ residence. Send them to the White House. Then, all of a sudden, maybe they will realize they should close the damn borders.”

Pataki further stated that he believes the city cannot sustain the current surge in migrants, a concern that aligns with recent statements from New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

In September, Adams warned that the migrant crisis “will destroy New York City.”
