According to the NYPD, a lifeless woman, without any clothes, was discovered Friday morning inside the garbage compactor room of an East Harlem building.

The police were alerted via a 911 call and found the unconscious woman on the second floor of the 11-story structure at 107 East 126th St on June 9th.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene, confirming the woman’s death. The medical examiner has been entrusted with identifying the cause of death as part of the continuing investigation. The identity of the woman, believed to be in her 30s, remains unreleased until the next of kin has been notified.

Long-time resident Jim Ratti, a prominent member of the local tenants’ association, expressed his shock at the horrific discovery in the compactor room. Acknowledging an issue with people sleeping and using drugs on the premises, he stressed the urgent need for increased security measures in the building.

Cheryl Lago, another building resident living near the compactor room, recounted the chilling moment when she encountered the lifeless body. Having never seen the deceased before, Lago described her as a heavyset Caucasian woman. Despite the commonplace sight of strangers in the compactor room, she said the day’s events were deeply unsettling.

The police stated that there were no visible injuries on the deceased woman, and no evidence of drug use was found nearby. It remains unclear whether the woman was a resident of the building.

This story is developing.
