Adams Administration Opens A Resource Navigation Center for Migrants

On Thursday, September 15th, the first Asylum Seeker Resource Navigation Center in New York City was launched by New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Commissioner of New York City Emergency Management Zach Iscol, and Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs Manuel Castro. The facility, run by Catholic Charities of New York under contract with the city, will provide assistance to people and families who entered New York City on or after January 1st, 2022. The center will act as a hub where recently arrived asylum seekers can get free assistance accessing a range of crucial services and resources that will aid in their integration and success in New York City.

“Our city continues to welcome the thousands of families who have arrived in New York City in the last few months,” Mayor Adams said at the event, “but, today, we are announcing a one-stop-shop for those seeking asylum to receive free and confidential help accessing the important services and resources that will help them integrate and thrive in New York City.”

Still on the News…

The center, which is located in the American Red Cross of Greater New York headquarters at 520 W 49th St, will be open during the weekdays to offer one-on-one assistance to individuals and families in a variety of languages. Both community-based organizations and NYC government agencies will be at the center to aid in connecting migrants to various important services such as health care services, health insurance enrollment, mental health services, school enrollment for the children, as well as immigration services.

Services at the Asylum Seeker Resource Navigation Center are provided by reputable, licensed professionals and city organizations that are obligated by law to maintain the confidentiality of all information. The facility will not allow media access in order to safeguard client confidentiality.

In the next few weeks, the city will be announcing satellite locations city wide for migrants and asylum seekers to access aid services throughout all five boroughs.
