Brooklyn Shooting…

Four people were struck by gunfire in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn on Saturday, June 25th. According to the police, an eight-year-old boy who was in the company of three adults was one of the victims of the shooting.

All four victims of the shooting were rushed to Kings County Hospital. Reports indicate that the victims only suffered injuries to their legs and are expected to survive.

According to reports, gunfire started just before midnight on Quincy Avenue at Stuyvesant Garden Housing. The bullets were fired into a group of people who were enjoying a cookout.

Police reports say that two male suspects were witnessed leaving the location on a dirt bike after the gunfire ceased. It is not clear if the victims of the shooting were the intended targets.

Officials are also unsure of the motive of the crime. Mayor Eric Adams and NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell visited the scene of the crime.

Mayor Adams was already in Brooklyn at the site of a hit-and-run accident that left two people, an elderly woman and her grandson, dead. It is alleged that the accident was caused by a suspect who had stolen a motor vehicle and was in the process of escaping the police.

Still on Brooklyn shooting…

“This is my community. I live blocks from here. I patronize these stores. These are my neighbors. No one deserves to walk across the street with their grandchild and to be struck.”

Crime has been a serious problem in New York City and the shooting of the four people in Bedford-Stuyvesant proved to be the tip of the iceberg during that tragedy-filled weekend.

Three more shootings took place with one other shooting taking place in Bedford-Stuyvesant. A 33-year-old man was shot four times in the chest on Ralph Avenue. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital in critical condition. An unidentified suspect fled the scene of the crime before the arrival of the NYPD.

An hour after that incident, an 18-year-old was shot in the leg after a dark sedan approached him and a gunman in the vehicle fired upon him.  This incident took place at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Warren Street in Boerum Hill. The victim was rushed to the New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital for treatment.

In the early hours of Sunday, June 26th, a 32-year-old man was shot in the torso on Wortman Avenue in East New York. He received treatment at Brookdale Hospital.

Shootings are expected to get worse in New York following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn a New York law requiring anyone who purchases a gun to have a license and submit “proper cause.” It is anticipated that there will be an influx of guns on the streets and an increase in shootings reported.
