A 13-year-old boy was shot in the head Monday morning in the parking lot of a Dunkin’ Donuts in Cambria Heights, Queens, leaving him in critical condition. The shooting occurred around 8:20 a.m. at the corner of Linden and Springfield boulevards.

Police described the suspect as a man wearing a white hoodie and white sneakers, carrying a backpack. One report noted the backpack had the word “Jaws” on it. The gunman fled the scene before authorities arrived.

The boy was rushed to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition. Investigators have not determined a motive, and it is unclear whether the teenager was specifically targeted.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene as students ran through the area. Ronald Blain recalled hearing “a pop” before seeing children running down the block. Resident Xavier Ezell highlighted safety concerns, noting that his children are “not safe walking to school” in the neighborhood.

Authorities have not made any arrests as the investigation continues.
